Licensing U 2021 Sessions Now Available

A full array of Licensing U educational sessions – programmed by Licensing International and presented in conjunction with next week’s Licensing Expo Virtual – is now accessible on demand through the Expo website.

The offerings are divided into three tracks:

The Basics track is designed for licensing newcomers and those interested in learning more about the industry, offering an introduction to how the licensing business works; contracts and other legal basics; royalty rates, style guides, retail development and more.

Examples include What You Need to Know About Royalty Rates (with Adina Avery Grossman, Partner of Brandgenuity; Teri Niadna, Managing Director of Brandgenuity Europe, and Patrice Paglia, who heads licensing at Sazerac Brands), and Working With Agents and Consultants (with Ilana Wilensky, President of Jewel Branding and Licensing; Anita Castellar, CEO of FanGirl Consulting and Brand Management; Marc Mostman, President of Most Management, and Karen Raugust, Founder/President of Raugust Communications).

Licensing U will also include a series of Spotlight presentations and discussions that delve into key industry segments. The sessions will focus on specific areas such as art & design, corporate brands, sports, entertainment, and fashion/lifestyle licensing.

For example, Spotlight on Sports Licensing will feature the expertise of Jim Haskins, Group Vice President, Consumer Products Licensing at the National Hockey League; Tracy Whitehead, VP, Consumer Products and Strategy at NFL Players Inc., and Michael Lewis, President-CEO of trend merchandise licensee FOCO.

Spotlight on Entertainment Licensing will bring the perspectives of Dion Vlachos, Executive VP of Global Toys, Consumer Packaged Goods and U.S. Retail for ViacomCBS Global Consumer Products, as well as Geoffrey Greenberg, Co-President of Just Play Toys LLC.

Aimed at the more seasoned licensing professionals, Licensing U’s Tactics and Strategies track offers more advanced sessions and will tackle some of the latest topics and trends impacting today’s licensing industry.

For example, Tim Kilpin, President of PlayMonster LLC; Sam Hafif, CEO of Concept One Accessories, and Max Kantzer, CEO of logistics firm Transmodal Corp., stage a vibrant back and forth about Confronting Supply Chain Challenges. In another session, The Future of NFTs is discussed by Gary Bracey, Co-Founder and CEO of Terra Virtua, and Gary Ma, COO of Epik.

Licensing Expo Virtual will be staged online August 24-26.  Licensing U attendees can sign up either for an all-access pass (with a discount for Licensing International members), or purchase single-track access. Click here for a full list of topics and speakers,  more information and to register.
