 Bioworld Forms Homegoods Division

Bioworld has created a homegoods division, building on its acquisition of drinkware supplier Vandor to expand broadly into housewares for the first time, says Bioworld’s Jason Mayes.

The company will keep both Vandor’s name and its offices in Salt Lake City, UT, for the time being, but will add slightly higher priced product, says Mayes. Vandor and Bioworld share many of the same licenses, including Disney and Star Wars.

“We are going to take a much deeper dive [in the Vandor product line] aimed at hard-core fans so what we will offer will be things that Vandor doesn’t have,” says Mayes. “We won’t cut all of the baseline merchandise, but our intent is to take what they have done and bring it up a notch.”

Meanwhile, Bioworld will expand distribution of its 26-piece Star Wars-themed “Heroes and Villains” line into specialty retailers this month after having sold merchandise through a dedicated web site the past few months. It intends to extend the Heroes and Villains collection to Marvel and Warner Bros. properties in 2019, says Mayes.

Bioworld also is adding the Cartoon Network property “Rick and Morty” to its collection of smartwatches that currently feature Batman and Wonder Woman.

The watch, built around Bioworld’s proprietary operating system, has step training, sleep monitoring, timer and phone finder functions. The watches also contain short video clips (the Batman watch has a snippets from the 1966 TV series) that play when training goals are achieved.
