Aardman and Wild in Art announce Creative Partnership for Shaun the Sheep and Morph Sculpture Trails

Sculptures of world-renowned characters Morph and Shaun the Sheep will appear in art trails across Britain’s towns and cities in 2022 & 2022

Bristol, UK — Multi-award-winning, independent studio Aardman have entered into a creative partnership with Wild in Art that will produce public art trails featuring sculptures of the well-loved characters Morph and Shaun the Sheep in towns and cities across Britain, from January 2022.

The characters will provide a 3D canvas, and creative inspiration, for a wealth of art and design from a carefully curated mix of well-known and emerging artists. The new trails will further Wild in Art’s mission to bring art out of the gallery and create shared experiences, whilst the learning programmes and activations develop the next generation of artists.

The first ever sculpture trail to feature Morph launched on Jan. 29 when ‘Morph’s Epic Art Adventure’ arrived in North Tyneside.

Art is a huge part of Morph’s DNA and right from his earliest days creating chaos on the iconic BBC children’s art show Take Hart, he has been a champion of creativity. The art trails are part of Morph’s mission to get the nation creating, and this first event, hosted by North Tyneside Council, will see our Morph of the North with twenty 1.8m tall Morph sculptures decorated by commissioned artists from across the country with a wide range of themes including floral, character designs and plays on the word ‘Morph’.

This is the second Wild in Art trail to take place in and around North Tyneside Town Centre, following the hugely successful delivery of The Snowman and The Snowdog in Winter 2020. The aim is to drive footfall into town centres, supporting the local economy, whilst also encouraging families to get outdoors and active, and nurture an interest in art and creativity in the community.

The opportunity to host a ‘Morph’s Epic Art Adventure’trail is open to towns and cities across the UK. Shaun the Sheep will be the second collaboration as part of this new partnership, and news and opportunities for this concept will be announced soon.

About Morph
Morph is the animated clay character who made his TV debut in 1977 in the children’s BBC programme Take Hart, alongside the artist and presenter Tony Hart. He was one of Aardman’s first creations and was later joined by his cream-coloured partner-in-crime Chas.

Morph was a regular fixture on children’s television throughout the 70s and 80s, and received his own Blue Peter badge on 9th March 1981 when Blue Peter presenter Sarah Greene visited the Aardman studios.

In 2013, almost 40 years after his TV debut, Morph made a comeback following a hugely successful crowdfunding campaign. He has a dedicated fan base of nostalgic adult fans and a growing audience of children who follow his adventures on his thriving YouTube channel and on Sky Kids. Most recently Morph and his sidekick Chas have been delighting fans with all-new adventures in ‘The Epic Adventures of Morph, a longer format series which launched on Sky Kids and NowTV in 2020.

Despite now being in his forties, Morph is as mischievous as ever.
