ABG Plans to Open Juicy Couture Stores in U.S.

Authentic Brands Group plans to open 5-10 Juicy Couture stores in the U.S. starting in 2017, positioning them as flagship locations to go along with store-with-a-store formats at some retailers, says ABG’s Jamie Salter. The stores would be the first in the U.S. since ABG bought the brand from Fifth and Pacific for $195 million in 2013 and later closed 129 U.S. stores open at the time. There are 247 Juicy Couture stores outside the U.S.

ABG has relaunched Juicy Couture apparel at retail in partnership with Delta Galil and struck licensing agreements for other products, including fragrances. ABG originally planned to open new U.S. stores in 2015, but instead waited for the apparel brand to gain third party distribution. “First we had to fix Juicy and there was no point in opening new stores in the U.S. until we got the product right,” says Salter. “Now that we have the product right, we can fill the stores will multiple categories.”
