Bulu Launches Crayola Subscription Box Service
Subscription box company Bulu is launching the Crayola CIY (Create It Yourself) Box in May with two projects (a clock and dinner plate) playing into the growing popularity of marbleizing – the art of painting objects to look like real marble.
The service will carry annual ($395), three-month ($122) and monthly ($37.99) subscriptions; boxes will be packaged with Crayola supplies including paints and bushes along with “how-to” guides. Subscribers also will be able to share their projects on social media using the #CrayolaCIYBox hashtag and will have access to how-to videos and free downloadable templates.
The service marks an expansion of Crayola’s CIY network, which launched as a web site two years ago and has an archive of 165 how-to videos.
For Lincoln, NB-based Bulu, which was founded in 2012 and initially focused on its own nutritional supplement subscription box service, the deal extends a private label and licensed business, the latter including retailers GNC and Lululemon.
Meanwhile, Crayola has signed a licensing agreement with Rubie’s Costume Co. for Halloween costumes, facepaint and part goods
