DeAPlaneta Entertainment and KEDD Animation Studio sign a global agreement on “Mitch-Match”

We are pleased to announce that DeAPlaneta Entertainment has signed a deal with Hungary’s prestigious KEDD Animation Studio to acquire innovative and groundbreaking animated series Mitch-Match.

Thanks to this deal, DeAPlaneta Entertainment will manage Media Rights of Mitch-Match worldwide, excluding Hungary. KEDD Animation Studio is a renowned Hungarian animation company founded by Oscar-nominated director Géza M. Toth, which is known for its unique and award-winning productions. Their beloved series, including Berry and Dolly, KUFLIS and the innovative Mitch-Match have charmed audiences globally. Géza M. Tóth is a film director and animation artist who founded KEDD Animation Studios in 2002; since then, as leader, director and producer of the studio, he has been working in different kind of projects, as short films, TV-commercials, music videos and experimental works and lots of illustrations in children’s books. His short film Maestro was nominated at the 2007 edition of the Oscars for Best Animated Short Film.

Mitch-Match (52×3’) is an imaginative animated series for young adults and families directed, scripted and designed by Géza M. Tóth, and produced by KEDD Animation Studies. This non-dialogue, sketch-comedy series follows a single piece of curious, playful matchstick on whimsical adventures. Each episode starts the same way: the main character, the blue headed matchstick pops out of the box. At the end of each story, he jumps back into the empty box. The series is aimed primarily at the teenage age group. Young people’s curiosity, courage and openness are reflected in the way the protagonist steps out of his safety and explores the world around him. Géza M. Tóth has stated about Mitch-Match: “Playfulness lies in the fact that the eternal childlike fantasy is capable of imagining anything in objects and able to create a complex world from the simplest things – wooden cubes, pebbles. The Mitch-Match series makes an attempt to trigger this ability from everyone. We decided to use the most basic object – a matchstick – to create a story. The film delivers a highly creative and playful animation style with a simplest gesture by bringing matchsticks to life and tries to encourage the audience to put together the pieces of the puzzle. In this filmmaking gesture, I wanted to find a way to bring out the eternal child from everyone”.

Carlos Biern, Content and Distribution Director at DeAPlaneta Kids & Family has stated: “It is unusual to find such innovative talent as the creative team behind KEDD Animation Studio. Including in DeAPlaneta Entertainment’s catalog an animated series as groundbreaking, original and imaginative as Mitch-Match allows us to reach a young adult and family audience interested in animated productions that fuel their imagination in a unique and unconventional way. We have been working closely with our team at DeAPlaneta Entertainment’s Eastern European office to select and distribute projects that have been produced locally. We are absolutely delighted that the first of these projects comes from Hungary and from such a prestigious company as KEDD Animation Studio”.

Géza M. Tóth from KEDD Animation Studio, declared: “We are proud to be a professional partner of a successful company with a large international distribution experience like DeAPlaneta Entertainment. We have already done much to ensure that KEDD Animation Studio’s in-house developed and produced brands, festival films and animated children’s series have achieved many international professional festival and distribution successes in the studio’s 22 years of operation. This agreement is an important and honourable milestone in these efforts. I am convinced that the international recognition of KEDD’s productions will reach a new level with this partnership with DeAPlaneta Entertainment”.
