Desk Details: Molly Robbins, SVP of Global Licensing & Business Development for USPA Global Licensing Inc.

The global licensing community is guided by an incredible group of senior executives whose diverse backgrounds and creative energy drive innovation and excellence. Each month, we’re profiling one of these professionals in this ongoing series.

How do you start your day?
My job demands a lot of my time and energy, so I start my day with a quick workout. Weather permitting, I ride my Vespa to work while listening to music, which helps set the tone for the day.  I am usually one of the first people in the office by 7:45am, so I turn on the lights and pour myself a cup of coffee.

What’s one item you always need on your desk?
A notebook—indispensable to track projects and jot down ideas.

What unique skill or characteristic do you bring to your team?
I am very focused and skilled at reaching consensus and accelerating momentum throughout the execution of any project. The result is a productive and practical relationship or deal in which everyone wins, professionally and personally.

What is something you learned at a previous job that prepared you for your current role?
The ability to pivot when needed. As leaders, we need to be able to change direction when a current strategy is not delivering the desired results.

What is your favorite aspect of your current role?
I am energized by the global aspect and accelerated growth of our U.S. Polo Assn. business. I connect with our global team and partners 24/7 and stay current with the exchange of business ideas and industry trends.

What is one thing you would change about the licensing industry?
There is an “art” to putting together successful deals and our industry can be lacking in the finesse of the negotiations.

If you had an extra hour in your workday, how would you use it?
Connecting with my team! They are all doing such tremendous work around the globe for U.S. Polo Assn.

What is one thing you need to do every day to feel accomplished?
It’s important for me to have a set routine to review my day. I plan forward and am mindful of what we can do better to keep the business on track.

Are you a carry-on or checked bag traveler?
I carry-on as often as I can, even on long trips. Those TikTok videos of how to pack are very helpful!

What do you always have in your suitcase on a work trip?
I always have sneakers and workout clothes. I hit the hotel gym if I can’t take a walk around the local neighborhood.

If you weren’t in licensing, what would you be doing?
I have always been fascinated with forensic science.

What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago?
Don’t rush through life. It goes by quick enough as is.

What are you most excited about moving forward?
To continue to go after untapped opportunities for the U.S. Polo Assn. brand so that we can reach the $3 billion dollar retail sales target for 2025.
