Diaper Dude Enters Licensing Agreement with Major League Baseball Properties for Themed Diaper Bags and Accessories
Licensing Deal Marks First-Ever Sports Agreement All-New Collection to Debut April 2013
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16, 2013 – Diaper Dude, the original bag for dad and lifestyle accessory brand, today announced a licensing agreement with Major League Baseball Properties (MLBP) marking Diaper Dude’s first-ever sports deal. The agreement allows for use of MLB marks, including all 30 Club marks plus mascots and ballpark marks, on diaper bags, baby bottler holders and pacifier pouches. The first samples of the new accessories will be unveiled at the Sports & Licensing Tailgate Show taking place Jan. 17-19, 2013, in Las Vegas (Diaper Dude Booth #1731).
“Diaper Dude was born from the idea that men don’t have to lose who they are when they become a dad,” said Chris Pegula, founder, Diaper Dude. “And because many guys identify so closely with their favorite baseball team, the association with MLB is a perfect marriage – one that will give dads the opportunity to support their favorite team while also supporting their new – or growing – families.”
“Major League Baseball Properties is thrilled to partner with Diaper Dude on a line of products that combines dad’s passion for his favorite team with trend-right, practical, men’s focused diaper bags and accessories,” said Howard Smith, SVP, Licensing, Major League Baseball Properties. “Whether they are at the ballpark or at the playground, fathers can proudly show their allegiance and pass on the great tradition of baseball to their sons and daughters.”
The MLBP agreement is the second licensing deal for the internationally expanding brand – recently Diaper Dude came to market with a line of Yellow Submarine bags and accessories, bringing the timeless appeal of The Beatles to a new generation of fans. The brand also recently partnered with Boba, Inc., the award-winning baby carrier company, to create The Special Edition Diaper Dude Boba Carrier.
In addition, Diaper Dude founder Pegula is bringing his dad “in-the-know-how” lifestyle brand to an all-new book, Diaper Dude: A Modern Guy’s Guide to Pregnancy (Perigee, May 2014) and has partnered up with fellow celeb dad, actor Dean McDermott, on a new digital series that will launch later this year.
The MLB licensed accessories will be available nationwide beginning April 2013 in specialty retailers, upscale boutiques and in department stores. They will also be available at www.diaperdude.com. Prices will range from $78 for a diaper bag to $8 for the pacifier pouch.
About Diaper Dude
Actor-turned-father-turned-designer Chris Pegula is the creator of Diaper Dude, America’s most high-profile line of hip gear for cool dads. With the launch of his company, Pegula sought to make a man’s transition into fatherhood easier, but along the way started a movement and lifestyle born from the idea that fatherhood doesn’t have to be complicated or un-cool.
After the birth of the first of his three children, Pegula noticed that most diaper bags and accessories sold at retail stores were designed with women’s sense of style in mind. Instead of carrying his baby-stuff around in a gym bag or backpack, Pegula created Diaper Dude for dads.
Since the launch of Diaper Dude, Pegula has emerged as a lifestyle expert on all things family, parenting and partner related. From helping a man understand what his wife is going through while pregnant, to maintaining a great marriage, and staying connected to your wife and kids while traveling on business, Pegula understands the everyday challenges and expectations of being a terrific husband and father, and uses humor and creativity in juggling the everyday chaos that accompanies his family-man lifestyle. Pegula has partnered up with fellow celeb dad, actor Dean McDermott, on a new digital series that will launch in 2013, and he is currently working on the book, Diaper Dude: A Modern’s Guy’s Guide to Pregnancy that will debut in 2014.
