Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media Income Up Despite Revenue Shortfall
Operating income for Disney’s Consumer Products and Interactive Media group rose 12% to $362 million in Q2 ended June 30 despite a 5% revenue decline to $1.08 billion. The company credited the income rise to increases in the merchandise licensing and games businesses.
“The increase at merchandise licensing was primarily due to lower expenses driven by a decrease in general and administrative costs. Higher operating income at our games business was due to decreased product development costs and higher minimum guarantee shortfall recognition,” Disney said in its earnings release
Overall, Disney’s net income slipped 9% to $2.37 billion as revenue was flat at $14.24 billion.
