Disney, Lauren Moshi Prepare Villains Collection
Retailer/designer Lauren Moshi and Disney launch a 15-piece Disney Villains capsule collection featuring designs based on the studio’s evil characters. It’s planned as the first in a line of licensed Villains products.
The collection, which debuts tonight at the start of NY Fashion Week, will consist of t-shirts, fashion tops and leggings featuring designs drawn from Disney characters including Cruella de Vil, Maleficent, Evil Queen, the Queen of Hearts, Dr. Faciller, Ursula and Flotsam and Jetsam. It will be sold starting today at Moshi’s web site and stores in Santa Monica, Los Angeles and Miami.
The Villains program ultimately will cover a broad range of product categories and retail channels, says a Disney spokeswoman. Moshi has developed licensed fashion collections in the past including Disney Couture (Mickey and Minnie Mouse) in 2011 and a DC Comics (Batman, Wonder Woman, Tweety) capsule with Warner Brothers Consumer Products in 2013. It also worked with Epic Rights and Warner Music Group on apparel featuring rock bands including the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Def Leppard.
The Moshi-designed collection is addition to an “inspired by” 20-piece Disney Villains line that will be part of spring 2019 runway collection of luxury label The Blonds during NY Fashion Week (though not offered for sale).
