Feld Motor Sports & FOX Sports Unveil “Cleatus” Monster Jam Truck

AURORA, Ill. (January 2, 2014) – Feld Motor Sports® and FOX Sports unveiled the newest addition to Monster Jam® today, a 10,000-pound brute of a Monster Jam truck inspired by Cleatus, FOX Sports’ iconic robot, that makes its Monster Jam debut this Saturday, January 4, at Houston’s Reliant Stadium.
Fresh off the football field, Cleatus powers his way into the Monster Jam lineup, flying the colors of FOX Sports 1, America’s new sports network and new home to Monster Jam television programming. On football Sundays, the NFL on FOX’s signature animated robot struts across the television screen, performing moves that leave even the most experienced athletes in awe. During Monster Jam season, however, Cleatus will bring his moves to the dirt, barreling into stadiums and arenas with that all-too-familiar gusto sports fans have come to love and cheer.
“Cleatus and Monster Jam are a natural fit,” said Robert Gottlieb, FOX Sports EVP of Marketing. “Both the event and the character are larger than life … loud and proud, and a lot of fun.”
Designed with the help of FOX Sports 1, the Cleatus truck is a unique vehicle all the robot’s own. The Cleatus truck makes its debut this year, as Monster Jam premieres on FOX Sports 1 this season as part of a new five-year deal with Feld Motor Sports and America’s new sports network.  The new 2014 Monster Jam programming will start in March on FOX Sports 1, and “Best of Monster Jam” will begin airing January 12 on FOX Sports 2 with six Monster Jam specials in January and February.
Cleatus weighs in at 10,000 pounds and stands 10 feet tall and 12 feet wide all while sitting atop 66” Monster Jam tires. This 1,500 horsepower machine will be looking to tackle the competition in 2014.  Behind the wheels of Cleatus will be Monster Jam veteran driver, Frank Krmel.
“I can’t wait to debut Cleatus at Monster Jam this weekend in Houston,” said Frank Krmel.  “Being an NFL fan, it’s an honor for me to get behind the wheel of this iconic FOX Sports character.  Look for big things from Cleatus at Monster Jam this year!”
Monster Jam, the largest touring monster truck property in the world with more than 350 performances and 4 million in live attendance annually, will air 26 hours of original programming on FOX Sports 1 followed by a minimum of two re-airings on FOX Sports 2. Monster Jam is a live event spectacle like none other, which along with the strong mass retail consumer products offering and new television package on FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 is primed for tremendous growth.
