The 2015 International Licensing Expo saw One Direction win the award for “Celebrity or Music program” at the LIMA Awards as Global Merchandising Services continue to build upon the bands phenomenal success in licensing.
Global have expanded the One Direction retail presence into the Middle East with new partners Leap Technologies (Electronics) and Fine Hygienic Products (Health & Beauty).  In Latin America, Confiteca CA (confectionery) have come on board and in the UK, Ecell Global (mobile accessories) have also joined the licensing programme.
In addition, Global have extended existing licenses in the UK with Kerry Foods, MV Sports, Easy Karaoke and Gioia. In Italy, Seven SpA will continue to produce their back to school range. Lojas Riachuelo have renewed their apparel, nightwear, footwear and accessories license in Brazil  and in North America Universal Posters have extended their agreement for personalised gifting.  The US licensing program has renewed with partners, Advanced Graphics, Church & Dwight, Fatheads and this month 1D footwear will be released via Licensing Partner, Leomil.  The shoes will be available through Kohl’s and Famous Footwear retail stores.
Jens Drinkwater, Licensing Manager at Global commented “We’re delighted to be working with partners in territories such as the Middle East. 1D visited some countries for the first time last year during the first leg of the “On The Road Again Tour”, playing stadium shows in South East Asia, South Africa and Dubai.  In the second half of 2015 their presence will be felt in N America and the UK as the record breaking tour continues. Anticipation amongst fans is higher than ever to hear their 5th album later this year, which will be their first as a four piece.”
So far this year One Direction have played dates in Australia, Japan, throughout South East Asia, South Africa and the UAE.  The tour continues throughout the summer, playing 17 Stadium dates in the US and 33 dates throughout Europe.
Their hotly anticipated 5th album is expected for release in Q4, supported by  fan-events and promotional appearances worldwide.
