Hostess Maps Out Nestle Ice Cream Plans
Hostess’ licensing agreement with Nestle for ice cream will “add more value” to the company’s trademarks and expand its reach in the frozen food aisle, Hostess CEO William Toler told investors at the ICR conference Jan. 10 in Orlando. The licensed products start this month with Ding Dong ice cream sandwiches being sold through Kroger and will expand in the spring with another 4-5 SKUs of ice cream under Twinkie, Sno Ball and other brands, said Toler in his first public remarks about the Nestle licensing agreement. “There will definitely be more things for Hostess to do in frozen” in both licensing and acquisitions, Toler said. Meanwhile, Hostess will launch its Dolly Madison snack cakes and pastries later this year in Canada, where licensing rights to its brands, including Twinkies, are owned by Canada Bread Co.’s Vachon Bakery Inc.
