NEW YORK (April 5, 2017) – Industry veteran Carole Postal today announced that her agency, Spotlight Licensing and Brand Management, Inc. (spotlightlicensing.com), has been appointed to represent the famed Vera™ design brand for licensing.
Known for bright florals, bold geometrics, travel-inspired motifs, and other cheerful designs, the Vera brand is a celebration of the lifework of artist and entrepreneur Vera Neumann who built her iconic Vera brand and pioneering cross-licensing empire by making her artwork accessible to everyone through a wide range of products (not just for hanging on walls).
“Before Vera Wang… before Vera Bradley… there was just Vera,” says Jack Mann, president of VNIP Holdings LLC, the company which holds trademark rights for the Vera brand name and designs. “Vera was everywhere and everyone recognized her distinctive cursive signature with the little ladybug.”
“It’s a great privilege for Spotlight Licensing to be chosen to represent such a historic and beloved brand,” says Postal. “Vera’s colorful designs – which the Spotlight team had the great pleasure of reviewing thanks to VNIP’s extensive and beautiful digital design archives – offer a timeless appeal that works just as well on cellphone cases, modern luggage, and today’s home textiles as the beautiful vintage scarves and other items still cherished by collectors.”
Ladybug VeraAs global agent for the Vera brand, Spotlight Licensing assumes responsibility for overseeing existing licensees such as Duck River Textiles, Liberty Pro Co., Mann & Bros., Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Upper Canada Soap while also working to expand the brand into new and complementary product categories.
For Postal, Spotlight Licensing and Brand Management, Inc. represents a “fresh start” following the passing of husband Bob Postal who was her co-founder in the 1997 creation of CopCorp Licensing and a driving force behind the formation of Knockout Licensing – a decade and a half later.
“It’s a new name for a new agency and the next, new phase in my life,” explains Postal.
