Kellogg’s Cafes to Expand?
The Kellogg’s NYC cafe may be considered for international expansion given the interest it has received since opening in July, says Sandra Di Capua, co-owner of the Times Square restaurant, told us this week at the National Retail Federation’s Big Show 2017 in New York. Journee has a two-year licensing agreement to use Kelloggs’ trademarks, including the Kellogg’s/NYC logo found on the restaurant, grocery bags and coffee cups. Di Capua says she has been approached by companies interested in expanding the concept to the Middle East and Latin America, but that such discussions have only been exploratory. The 1,600-square-foot café sells 17 varieties of Kellogg’s cereals that can be paired with 40 toppings. “We are trying to keep warm to these discussions, but we want to walk before we run” because the concept “might now work everywhere,” says Di Capua, noting the need for high foot traffic and an appeal to tourists.
