Meyer Corp. Readying College Tailgating Products
Meyer Corp. will launch its College Collection of chili bowls, stock pots, skillets, frying pans and serving bowls this fall in a bid to attract a younger customer to its products.
The line of 8-10 SKUs, priced $15 (spatula) to $50 (stock pot), will initially target the University of Alabama, Louisiana State University (LSU) and Texas A&M, chosen because they are among the top schools in merchandise sales, a Meyer spokeswoman said.
Some of the products, such as platters, will carry slogans tied to the schools such as “Love Purple, Love Gold” (LSU) and “Where Legends Are Made” (Alabama).
Licensing agreements with five other schools are pending, the Meyer spokeswoman said. The collection originally was slated for delivery last summer, but was delayed as agreements were finalized.
The College Collection will potentially open up new distribution such as college bookstores and sporting goods chains to Meyer, whose products are largely sold through mass merchants and department stores.
