Sesame Workshop Promotes Anita Stewart to Senior Vice President, Corporate Partnership

New York, N.Y., October 25, 2010 –Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, has promoted Anita Stewart to Senior Vice President of Corporate Partnerships, Sesame Workshop. Stewart will report to Myung Kang-Huneke, Chief of Staff.
Stewart joined the Workshop in 2003 and is responsible for developing and securing strategic corporate alliances and sponsorship programs for the Workshop’s signature children’s series, Sesame Street and The Electric Company in the U.S., as well as for co-productions throughout the world including in Brazil, China, South Africa, Mexico, Nigeria and India. Stewart also oversees corporate funding for domestic and international community outreach partnerships including Healthy Habits for Life, Sesame’s STEM initiative, and a new global road safety initiative. Stewart focuses on creating programs that strategically align a company’s overall goals and CSR objectives with Sesame Workshop’s mission, both domestically and globally. In her new position, Stewart is focusing on developing innovative new multimedia, multinational corporate partnerships that harness the power of all media, including mobile and digital platforms, to deliver critical educational messaging to children and families around the world, particularly the underserved.
“Anita has been extremely successful in securing corporate funding in today’s challenging economic climate to help support Sesame’s mission of delivering educational resources to all children,” said Myung Kang-Huneke, Chief of Staff, Sesame Workshop. “Her extensive experience and passion for identifying corporations with similar missions and visions has made for a successful model of how corporate responsibility, in the United States and around the world, adds to the successes of nonprofit organizations like Sesame Workshop.”
Previously, Stewart worked at PBS as the National Marketing and Sales Director of its Sponsorship Group. She has also held positions at MobileComm Inc. as Vice President, Corporate and Marketing Communications, at Texaco as Global Director, Advertising and Sales Promotion, and at N.W. Ayer & Partners as Senior Vice President.
Stewart is on the board of the IAA and is a member of Women in Communications, ANA, Cause Marketing Forum, Conference Board, Council of the Americas and the USRBC and has sat on several committees. Stewart resides in Hartsdale, NY, with her husband Rod and son Jonathan.
