Shena Wolf Joins KO Media Management

Everett, WA – Publishing veteran Shena Wolf has joined KO Media Management as Licensing Agent. The Agent title is new for Wolf, having spent over a decade in content acquisition, development, and syndication, but these skills are precisely what KO Media Management founder, Kathleen Ortiz, was looking for.

“When I started KOMM, it was with the mindset that while some creators’ IP is best started with a book, there’s a lot of fantastic IP out there that doesn’t necessarily need to start as a book,” says Ortiz. “Shena’s experience working with IP that typically began in a non-book format reflects this mindset.”

Wolf worked for Andrews McMeel Universal from 2003-2023, across a number of divisions, primarily focused on the acquisition and development of content of all kinds. Their projects from that time include “Phoebe and Her Unicorn” by Dana Simpson, “Breaking Cat News” by Georgia Dunn, “Wallace the Brave” by Will Henry, “Dark Side of the Horse” by Samuli Lintula, the rebooted “Nancy” by Olivia Jaimes, the rebooted “Heart of the City” by Steenz, and “Crabgrass” by Tauhid Bondia, among others. During their time there, Wolf launched more than 200 features into the digital space.

In 2023, Shena stepped away from Andrews McMeel to pursue other opportunities, and realized that the Venn diagram of things they loved about their former job and the elements of agenting were almost a single circle. They believe that a crucial piece of any creative process is the ability to engage with and support talent, and are excited to bring these skills to this new career.

“I had worked with Kathleen in the past and always deeply respected her work ethic and her approach to her creators,” says Wolf. “In all iterations of my work, that connection to creators has been tremendously important to me, and seeing that in another person on the other side of the table is always so cool. When we started talking about this, I didn’t think that this would necessarily be a career path for me, but every conversation we had was so exciting and full of possibility that it became very clear that what I wanted to do was this work, with this person.”

Ortiz continues, “I’ve worked with Shena several times, and the professionalism and enthusiasm they’ve had for comics and the publishing and licensing industry for the past 20 years is exactly what’s needed in this new role with future clients.”

Wolf currently specializes in comics, particularly all-ages comics with a focus on humor, but loves storytelling in all of its formats. They are excited to work with creators who are bringing engaging illustrated and narrative projects to the world.

KO Media Management is a full-service, boutique literary and media representation agency, and serves as a strategic partner to leverage IP’s licensing opportunities.
