Sutikki’s “Moon and Me” Due in February

The release of Sutikki’s preschool “Moon and Me” series on the BBC’s Cbeebies has been slated for February, with product expected to arrive in the UK from master toy licensee Hasbro and Scholastic in fall 2019, Sutikki’s Andrew Kerr.

The 50-episode, 22-minute TV series is the first to emerge since Sutikki was formed in 2016 as a Bento Box Entertainment division and is expected arrive on Universal Kids (formerly Sprout) in the U.S. in March, with the bulk of Hasbro and Scholastic U.S. product to ship in 2020. Sutikki recently signed an agreement with 9 Story Brands to handle licensing and distribution in North America. UYoung is handling licensing and distribution in China, with plans for “Moon and Me” to launch on streaming services there next spring.

The series was commissioned by the BBC in 2016 and originally was slated to air last May. It was later pushed to this month as Sutikki delivered episodes in August.

Sutikki has signed about 40 licensees in the UK, including a handful of toy companies – Orange Toys (doll houses), Vtech (electronic learning aids) and HTI (role play) – to complement the Hasbro line, says Kerr.  About half the UK licensees are expected to have product in fall 2019, including apparel and accessories, back to school products and magazines. Sutikki also is seeking apparel licensing agreements for the U.S.

“We want to make a statement on shelf next fall, not too crazed, but sufficient enough so that we are not lost at retail,” says Kerr.
