Xilam Launches Licensing Program for Paprika Preschool Series
French animation studio Xilam launches a licensing program for its first preschool animation series, “Paprika,” with plans to introduce a new stylebook at BLE next month, says Xilam’s Marie-Laure Marchand.
The 78-episode, eight-minute series first aired on France 5 last November and will debut on Disney Junior in EMEA on Oct. 18; distribution also includes Italy (Frisbee), South Korea (EBS) and Latin America (Disney Junior). The property’s first licensee, Hachette, will ship books in France in October.
Xilam also will introduce licensing for its new “Mr. Magoo” series, co-produced with Universal, at BLE, but is awaiting assets for a stylebook. The delivery of about half of the 78, seven-minute episodes has been postponed until early 2019 from this fall with plans for Cartoon Network Asia to carry the finished series, says Marchand. The new episodes add two new characters to a series that has its roots in American TV in the 1950s and 1960s.
