Cartoon Network Adds PopSockets to Merch Collab by Amazon Program
Cartoon Network licensee PopSockets (smartphone grips) has been added to the Merch Collab by Amazon program and is developing products under the Rick and Morty brand, says Cartoon Network’s Peter Yoder.
In creating Rick and Morty grips, PopSockets draws from Merch by Collab’s roster of artists, who so far have created 100-150 designs for the brand, says Yoder. Merch for Collab matches Amazon’s artists with licensors and licensees.
Under the program, which launched earlier this year, brand owners and licensors create style guides for IP, which are submitted to artists, who decide whether to create a design. Once a design is developed it is submitted to IP owners for approval. Amazon also offers print-on-demand services as part of Merch Collab.
In Europe, Cartoon Network launched tests with Merch Collab in the UK and Germany in August, starting with Rick and Morty t-shirts and hoodies that use Amazon’s print-on-demand facility in Poland, says Cartoon Network’s Johanne Broadfield.
