With vivid illustrations of 12 North American Songbirds on its dial, and corresponding authentic licensed bird songs played at the top of each hour, it continues to be a must-have product for bird watchers and nature lovers everywhere.

The success of the wildly popular Original Singing Bird Clock would become the impetus for the Housewares Product Development Company to launch a series of other licensed Wall, Desk, and Cuckoo Sound Clocks beginning the following year in 1997.Targeting multiple market segments, these clocks have been staple products in retail stores, catalogs, and online. Combined with the Original Singing Bird Clock, total MFA Licensed Sound Clock sales have exceeded over 10 million units!

From world-renowned brands like Coca-Cola® to popular artists like the late Thomas KinkadeTM, MFA has partnered with over 40 licensors during the past 25 years.

For their popular licensed Ford Motors Sound Clocks MFA used actual engine sounds recorded from Ford vehicles spanning multiple decades.

On their Bob Ross Clocks introduced in 2021, MFA features whimsical quotes from the late artist, recorded off his popular television show “The Joy of Painting”, to capture the true essence of what has made him a streaming pop culture icon. To achieve high-quality sounds, MFA works closely with its clock manufacturing facilities to guarantee that the authentic recordings are replicated precisely onto audio IC chips which allow each clock to play truly realistic sounds. This can become a painstaking process, such as the time it took 33 attempts before the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology would approve their 12 licensed bird sounds for use on MFA’s first Original Singing Bird Clock.

As for the future of MFA’s Licensed Sound Clock Program, Feldstein stressed that “Its continued success depends on identifying licensors who have built strong brand equity in the marketplace. But equally as important, these licensors need to have graphics and sounds that will translate well to a clock.”
