The Licensing International Foundation’s mission focuses on the next generation of licensing leaders, awarding students from around the world who are interested in a career in brand licensing at all stages of their educational journey.

What was your reaction when you first found out you had received a FSF Scholarship (funded by LI Foundation)?
I was incredibly honored that my work had been recognized by such a prestigious and established organization. I vividly remember jumping with joy and immediately calling my mom!

What did receiving this scholarship mean to you?
Physically, this scholarship meant that I could pursue an unpaid summer internship at one of my dream fashion companies, Mirror Palais. On an emotional and personal level, the scholarship validated my career choices and aspirations. It gave me a tremendous boost of confidence, reassuring me that I’m on the right path and that my passion and dedication to this field are recognized by industry professionals!

How has the Scholarship Program helped jumpstart or further your career?
The Licensing International Scholarship Program connected me with some incredible individuals who gave me so much advice about the world of licensing and marketing. It also enabled me to intern this summer in NYC, which was an incredible and invaluable experience. This internship allowed me to apply academic knowledge in real-world fashion industry settings, understand daily operations, and build a professional network. It has greatly enhanced my resume and provided valuable experience for future job interviews.

Did this scholarship make you rethink your career goals?
While the scholarship didn’t completely change my career goals, it certainly expanded my horizons and introduced me to new possibilities. Before receiving the scholarship, I had a general interest in brand collaborations and partnerships but wasn’t fully aware of the licensing sector. Learning about the intricacies and logistics of licensing has opened up a whole new career path that I’m now excited to explore!

How have you grown professionally and personally from this experience?
Professionally, I’ve gained practical skills, enhanced my understanding of the licensing industry, and built a valuable network. Personally, this experience has boosted my confidence and self-reliance. Moving to New York for the internship pushed me out of my comfort zone, teaching me to adapt quickly to new environments. I’ve become more independent and self-assured. The scholarship and subsequent experiences have reinforced my passion for this industry, giving me a clearer sense of purpose.

What advice would you give to current college students who are thinking of applying to the 2025 Scholarship Program?
I think my advice would be fairly universal: Start early, give your all, be authentic, and have fun with the application!

Looking ahead, what are your next steps or aspirations?
My immediate next steps are to finish my degree at USC and continue to grow my internship experience. I plan to continue networking, scheduling coffee chats, and learning as much as I can. Long-term, I would love to work for a leading fashion or lifestyle brand, potentially in a role that bridges creative marketing with licensing and partnerships. I’m excited about the possibility of developing innovative collaborations that push the boundaries of fashion and consumer products.
