Trunk Archive is pleased to announce a new licensing partnership with exclusive artist Ellen von Unwerth and famed streetwear brand Anti Social Social Club to release a limited-edition “Ellen von Unwerth for ASSC” collaboration of hoodies and tees. The collaboration commemorates leading fashion photographer Ellen von Unwerth’s iconic 1994 “Real Barbie” shoot, starring supermodel and actress Claudia Schiffer as the doll personified.

“I was very excited when Anti Social Social Club contacted me about this Barbie collaboration,” describes von Unwerth. “I always love to see my fashion pictures on real garments! It’s funny to see how those Claudia Schiffer images are still appealing to people and relevant for our time.”

On using Barbie dolls as inspiration for the 1994 “Real Barbie” shoot from which the new collaboration pulls, von Unwerth recounts, “I was obsessed with Barbie as a little girl. Claudia is kind of the original Barbie with the perfect figure, blonde hair, and wholesome smile. For the shoot we bought a Barbie doll and Claudia studied how you can make it move. We had lots of fun creating those images in a kind of tongue and cheek way.”
