Just Dutch is a children’s toy brand bringing the beloved Dutch character Miffy to life in crocheted form. The brand makes crocheted dolls, doll clothes and rattles in the form of Dick Bruna’s famous rabbit, Miffy. Miffy’s creator Dick Bruna often cited Matisse as an inspiration behind his work. In the last years of his life, Matisse used 2-D paper cut-outs to create bold, simple shapes in bright colors. Bruna adapted this technique by first tracing his designs on to paper, then outlining them in black poster paint. Afterwards he cut up colored paper to fill in the chosen spaces on the page.

This collaboration between Miffy and Matisse combines the charm of a beloved character with the brilliance of a renowned artist.
