Australian Social Enterprise Steps Into Licensing With Invitations Sent to 11 of The World’s Largest Product Companies Through Disruptive Social Campaign

Thankyou, an Australian social enterprise, is taking part in Festival of Licensing 2020, the world’s largest licensing conference, following its bold global campaign launched last week, No Small Plan. The campaign publicly petitions P&G and Unilever to license its range of personal care products. Thankyou has also sent partnership invitations to nine other global competitors – a selection of P&G and Unilever competitors.

The social enterprise, which has the fastest growing personal care range in the Australian grocery market*, makes and sells consumer products for the sole purpose of ending extreme poverty. After all the costs in running a business to get great consumer products to people are taken care of, every last cent that Thankyou makes goes toward funding change-makers globally who are seeking to address water, health, sanitation, economic development programs, maternal and child health programs in low-income communities.

Thankyou, which has raised over $17 million AUD for its cause through the sales of its products, has shifted its focus to a licensing model in order to scale quickly to a global operation – with the goal to eventually make hundreds of millions of dollars to help end extreme poverty. The urgency of its campaign has been driven by the economic realities of the pandemic, with reports stating that up to 265 million people are facing famine** and 37 million more people have been forced below the extreme poverty line (living on less than $1.90 per day)

‘We’ve been able to build a strong brand with purpose at the core within the Australian and New Zealand markets that consumers really resonate with. To see our vision realised – a world where not one person lives in extreme poverty – we believe we must take this idea to the global stage – and we see licensing as the most effective way to do that,’ said Thankyou co-founder and Chief Visionary, Daniel Flynn.

‘No Small Plan marks the first Thankyou license – but in the coming months and years, we will be looking for the right partners to help expand the brand into further categories to make a further impact. Whilst charity brands and licensing are not new, Thankyou’s disruptive approach as a social enterprise offers the licensing community a brand with purpose at the core, that really focuses on its marketing and brand execution.’

Following the conclusion of its No Small Plan campaign, Thankyou will be announcing the first license partner on one of the biggest digital billboards in the world, in Times Square New York, on Thursday 5 November.

The brand will showcase at the Festival of Licensing in the Americas in October, with the aim to connect with future potential license partners across different categories.

About Thankyou

Thankyou was founded in 2008 by a group of university students, and in only 12 years has grown into a movement of millions of people taking small steps to create big change. Thankyou’s highly engaged community successfully petitioned 7-Eleven and the two largest supermarkets in Australia to stock Thankyou products. Additionally, Thankyou’s supporters helped to reach a $1.2 million fundraising target to fund the organization’s future growth into new categories and launch into New Zealand by rallying around “Chapter One,” Thankyou’s pay-what-you-want book.

To date, Thankyou has raised over AUD $17 million for impact partners serving the world’s poorest populations. In the first 11 years, Thankyou’s impact partners had helped over 857,000 people across 22 countries with access to basic human needs. Their current partners, which span over 14 organisations, all focus on tackling extreme poverty (people living on less than $1.90 a day.)

Thankyou is as committed to preserving the earth as it is to helping those living on it with its responsible business goals. For more information on Thankyou and its goals, visit its website, at https://thankyou.co/.
