Big E-commerce Retailer Said to Be in Line for Craftsman

Stanley Black & Decker CEO James Loree says the company is in discussions with a “large” ecommerce retailer to carry Craftsman products once it completes its purchase of the Craftsman brand from Sears Holdings later this year. The retailer found Craftsman to be among the top failed search terms for consumers visiting its site, Loree said.

SBD expects Craftsman to generate at least $1 billion in revenue over 10 years, as the toolmaker expands distribution with big box and e-commerce retailers, Loree told analysts.

Craftsman products will be sold through SBD’s tools and storage business, which also brings it into the automotive and professional trade channels. SBD will source Craftsman products through Sears for about nine months before they’re added to SBD’s factories; it will open a dedicated Craftsman plant within about three years, a spokeswoman said.

Overall, the company’s net income for Q4 ended Dec. 31 slipped to $255 million from $267 million despite a revenue increase to $2.92 billion from $2.84 billion.
