Brand Liaison Builds Millennial Breakout Brand “Barbarian”
New York, NY; May 1, 2018: Barbarian, the breakout brand from millennial designer Barbra Ignatiev has quickly rose to licensing prominence with programs set for Anthropologie and Nordstrom’s, and licensing partners including Sakroots, Lang, Cranston, Prima and several more deals pending in table top, melamine, wall art and more. Represented by The Brand Liaison, the Barbarian brand features colorful bohemian patterns, florals and watercolors that inspire creativity.
With her wild-at-heart rebel spirit she intends to inspire a feeling of freedom. “I paint in a wild and carefree style, hoping to evoke the motto which is true in my life and I hope to instill in others: Be brave, get messy and love yourself along the way.” explains creator Barbara Ignatiev. “This ain’t yo’ Grandma’s watercolors! Its young, hip and fresh. I guess that’s why we are attracting so many great partners.”
In addition to a Direct-to-Retail program with Anthropologie for home goods, mugs, plates bowls and desk accessories, licensees for Barbarian brand include Sakroots, for backpacks, bags, wallets and other accessories, sold at Dillards, Belk and Boscov’s among others; Lang for calendars, journals, stationary, notecards and other gift items, Prima with several collections of tabletop and serveware, and Cranston for over-the-counter fabrics.
The Brand Liaison is currently working with additional partners in home goods and developing apparel and accessory items for the vast, yet cohesive art collection.
“Working with Anthropologie has been a dream of mine. To see my floral prints in their stores on mugs, bowls, and an assortment of desktop items brings happiness to my wild heart.” Adds Barbara.
The Barbarian design portfolios includes a wide range of prints and subject matter: modern mandalas, unicorns, and feather prints engage a more mystical side, while quirky skull prints feel playfully indomitable. Lush florals and wild animal prints evoke the feeling of ease and pleasure. Loose tribals and ikats are about connectivity. Mermaid prints and sensual female forms elicit a bold but fun play on feminism: “the idea that “feminism” is being exactly who you want to be. If that means being part fish, cool. If that means being sexy AF, great!” Explained Barbra.
