Desk Details: Young Park, COO & Executive Producer of English Tree
The global licensing community is guided by an incredible group of senior executives whose diverse backgrounds and creative energy drive innovation and excellence. Each month, we’re profiling one of these professionals in this ongoing series.
How do you start your day?
My toddlers double as alarm clocks. Their early morning energy jump‑starts the day and, once the house calms down, I reach for my trusty notebook and list the tasks I want to tackle.
What’s one item you always need on your desk?
That same notebook. It captures new ideas, organizes priorities, and—most satisfying of all—lets me cross items off. With more to do than fits in a day, it keeps me focused on what matters most.
What unique skill or characteristic do you bring to your team?
I bridge creative and business worlds. As a show creator, producer‑director, and studio founder, I can collaborate with artists, negotiate with vendors, and uncover new revenue streams—all while wearing several hats.
What is something you learned at a previous job that prepared you for your current role?
I was previously a producer and in charge of a virtual platform for Samsung, which taught me how to innovate at speed.
What is your favorite aspect of your current role?
English Tree feels like a nimble digital‑media startup. As a YouTube‑first brand, we can prototype, test, and iterate on new content formats quickly—without the usual red tape.
What is one thing you would change about the licensing industry?
Introduce micro‑licensing—small, fast approvals that let fan creators launch official products and become grassroots brand ambassadors, and seeding bigger deals later.
If you had an extra hour in your workday, how would you use it?
I’d sit down with a physical book. I listen to plenty of audiobooks and podcasts, but I miss the focus that comes from reading on paper.
What is one thing you need to do every day to feel accomplished?
Finish the priority list I wrote that morning, then rate my productivity at night. If the score is low, I plan how to make tomorrow better.
Are you a carry‑on or checked‑bag traveler?
Carry‑on whenever possible—I pack light.
What do you always have in your suitcase on a work trip?
Essentials: laptop, notebook, and a stash of gum to stay sharp without over‑caffeinating.
If you weren’t in licensing, what would you be doing?
Something in travel. I love meeting new people, exploring new places, and collecting fresh experiences—much like my work in kids’ media today.
What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago?
Success has its own pace. Be patient, enjoy the present, and make sure neither future goals nor past lessons go to waste.
What are you most excited about in 2025?
The licensing runway for English Tree. With stellar advisors and new initiatives—like a toymation channel starring our alphabet characters—the horizon looks bright! Also, we are exhibiting English Tree for the first time at the Licensing Expo 2025. Meet us at Booth D221!
