Discovery Communications Partners With BrownTrout Publishers, Inc. For Line of Animal Planet 2014 Calendars

January 28, 2013— Discovery Communications, the world’s number one nonfiction media company, announced today a new agreement with Browntrout Publishers, Inc. for an Animal Planet-branded 2014 calendar line for the U.S. and Canada. The new line is the latest addition to a robust assortment of Animal Planet lifestyle and pet product offerings.
Set to debut late this year, during peak calendar sale season, the Animal Planet line will include five (12”x 12”) wall calendars, desk pad calendars and list pad calendars, featuring a variety of animal-inspired designs.  The line will launch at a wide range of retail outlets including bookstores, drug and pet store chains, mass, mid-tier and department stores, independent specialty stores and e-commerce sites.
The deal with Browntrout Publishers, Inc. for the calendar line was brokered on behalf of Animal Planet by its licensing agent, the Joester Loria Group (JLG), for the U.S. market.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the Animal Planet themed calendars will benefit the principal partners of R.O.A.R (Reach Out. Act. Respond), Animal Planet’s national campaign that, together with leading animal organizations, leads the way in taking action and being a voice for animals.
