ELA Forms Joint Venture in Japan

Los Angeles, CA., September 5, 2012 — Dan Kletzky’s Los Angeles-based ENTERTAINMENT LICENSING ASSOCIATES (ELA) today announced the formation of a joint venture with Tokyo based Kaliya K.K., headed by Kei Hiroki. The joint venture will seek to acquire, adapt, develop, produce and license films, anime, manga, video games, toys and other Japanese intellectual property rights for exploitation across all platforms in North America and elsewhere around the world.
Kletzky and Hiroki have known and worked together for more than 10 years, first at Konami Digital Entertainment and then at Fields Corp, where Kletzky served as a consultant to the Pachinko giant’s film subsidiary Lucent Pictures where Mr. Hiroki was an executive.
Stated Kletzky, “…I have personally sought to establish ways to form an entity for this exact purpose for a while now. Over the past 15 plus years I have enjoyed a great deal of success in spearheading efforts in exporting Japanese intellectual property rights to North America in film, animation and licensing through my network of talented and loyal associates in Japan. And now, especially with expansion of digital platforms, the time has come to formalize my business in Japan”.
“Over the past several years Kei Hiroki and I and had many conversations about how to advance our mutual goals of assisting Japanese content owners and creators in their efforts to expand outside of Japan We are proud to announce that we have reached an agreement to form a joint venture between our companies for this exact purpose”.
Kletzky continued, “I know only too well the importance of having a Japanese partner on the ground in Japan for what we want to do and accomplish. There are others that have and continue to try other approaches to what we are doing; however what ELA will now have that separates us from others is the “hands on/roll up your sleeves” knowledge and ability in Japan to work with Japanese content owners and creators to serve their mutual interests here and in Japan. With their trust we will be able to utilize our relationships in the US and Japan to execute and produce projects that will make fans as well as creators and content owners proud to see their creative heritage brought to North America in all areas of entertainment”.
