Ethical Supply Chain Program and Open Supply Hub Collaborate to Make Ethical Supplier Data More Accessible

The Ethical Supply Chain Program has announced its collaboration with Open Supply Hub, whose mission is to make supply chain data open, accessible and trusted through its worldwide open data platform. Factories certified by the Ethical Supply Chain Program will now have the option of publishing their details on Open Supply Hub as part of the Ethical Supply Chain Program dataset.

Data from just under 700 ethically certified factories has been added to the Open Supply Hub platform this July and will be refreshed on a bi-annual basis. You can see the Ethical Supply Chain Program’s uploaded list here. The collaboration will strengthen relationships across the supply chain. Buyers benefit from a wider choice of ethical suppliers using this free and accessible tool, while factories which are doing business ethically can be found more easily.

The platform is a complement to the Ethical Supply Chain Program’s existing sourcing tool, Connect. Many of the program’s members are already using this to share, monitor and manage ethical supply chain information.

Carmel Giblin, CEO and President of the Ethical Supply Chain Program, said: “Right across the supply chain we’re seeing the need for greater transparency. Brands and retailers are under pressure to share information about where their products are coming from. This pressure is coming from both consumers and through regulation, such as the European Council’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive.

“Transparency and collaboration is at the core of what both the Ethical Supply Chain Program and Open Supply Hub are all about. By working together, we’re not only benefiting suppliers, who are working hard to show they are doing business in the right way, but also buyers, who are looking for quicker ways to identify new, responsible suppliers.”

Natalie Grillon, CEO and Executive Director at Open Supply Hub, said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting data from the Ethical Supply Chain Program. Too often, suppliers aren’t centered on the supply chain platforms that they contribute data to. Leveraging a collaborative, open dataset, our aim is to help more suppliers see the value and business case for transparency and give them a free, public avenue to show that they are serious about making their supply chains safe and sustainable.”
