Fanatics Launches Fan Shop on Walmart.com
Fanatics launches a new fan shop on Walmart.com for pro sports as part of a long-term deal that will offer licensed apparel, hats, collectibles, jerseys and novelty items, Walmart’s Eric O’Toole said in a post on Walmart’s blog.
Fan Shop by Fanatics will carry “hundreds of thousands” of NFL, NBA, MLB, NASCAR, and Major League Soccer (MLS) products as well as a range of brands including Nike, Majestic, Fanatics and New Era.
The deal further expands Fanatics’ agreements for operating ecommerce sites, a business that includes many team sites as well as NFLShop.com, NBAStore.com and MLBShop.com. It also operates several in-venue stores and the NBA’s store in New York.
Walmart has been moving rapidly to expand its ecommerce business since acquiring Jet.com for $3 billion in 2016, a deal that put Jet.com Founder Marc Lore in charge of its ecommerce operations. Walmart’s ecommerce revenue rose 43% in Q3 ended Oct. 31.
The agreement with Fanatics “will enable us to quickly give customers access to the latest and greatest items for sports’ biggest moments,” O’Toole said.
