Stuart Selarnick to move from chief executive officer to chairman of the board; Christopher Munyan named new CEO

Philadelphia, PA – Frankford Candy announced that Stuart Selarnick will transition from the role of chief executive officer.

After 38 years with the company, Selarnick will serve as chairman of the board. He will be succeeded by Christopher Munyan effective immediately.

Since becoming CEO of Frankford Candy in 2000, Selarnick has spearheaded the company’s growth through innovation and partnerships with some of the most respected companies in the entertainment and food industries to bring their iconic brands into the candy aisle. Under Selarnick’s leadership, Frankford Candy has grown from a small family-run chocolate manufacturer of seasonal novelties to become No. 16 in the confections industry and the largest manufacturer and marketer of licensed confections and gifts in the United States.

“It has been an honor to lead Frankford Candy over the past 25 years,” said Selarnick. “Alongside our strong executive team, we were the first company to bring licensed confections to consumers and have transformed Frankford Candy into a leading confections company with a world-class portfolio of licenses and brands, as well as strong customer relationships. I am confident that the company is in great hands with Christopher. His deep consumer products and licensing expertise makes him an excellent fit to lead Frankford Candy’s next chapter.”

Munyan brings over 30 years of leadership experience in consumer products. He previously served as partner at INVEST Consumer Partners, where he co-led four consumer products acquisitions. He was also a board member for Paladone Products Ltd., a leading UK-based licensed gift and toy company, and Cloudco Entertainment, owner of the fast-growing Care Bears brand. From 1993-2020, Munyan held senior executive roles at CSS Industries Inc., a major U.S. supplier of celebration products across multiple retail channels, where he managed operating companies with combined sales exceeding $500 million and led more than 21 acquisitions and two major divestitures.

“I am excited to take on the role of CEO and lead this exceptional company into its next phase of growth,” said Munyan. “For over 75 years, Frankford Candy has brought joy to consumers through creativity and quality, and I’m grateful to Stuart, whose 25 years of leadership shaped Frankford Candy into the company it is today. I look forward to collaborating with our employees and partners to bring beloved confections to life for years to come.”
