Iconix Brand Group, Inc. Names Willy Burkhardt To Lead International Activity

New York, NY (June 10, 2014) — Iconix Brand Group, Inc. has named Willy Burkhardt as executive vice president & managing director of international effectively immediately.  “I am pleased to announce the addition of Willy Burkhardt to our executive team in a newly created role as head of our business activity outside of the United States,” said Neil Cole, Chief Executive Officer, Iconix Brand Group.  “International growth is an important component of our strategy and Willy’s skills and experience will help us to capture the maximum potential from our assets around the globe.”
Mr. Burkhardt joins with 25 years of experience in managing across borders, developing new sources of revenue and managing and extending media and entertainment brands. He spent five years with ESPN, where as an executive vice president and member of the Board, he was responsible for all of ESPN’s business activities outside the United States and oversaw ESPN’s brand extensions and new business development in the United States. More recently, he was president of Blue Man Productions for several years where he co-led the development of new creative material, directed the company’s marketing and sales efforts and oversaw the company’s expansion into new territories and new media. He also was president of Sportsman Channel and executive vice president of television and digital media at InterMedia Outdoors. Mr. Burkhardt began his career at McKinsey & Company, Inc. in New York, where over a ten-year period he held several positions within the firm both domestically and overseas, focusing on strategy, marketing and new product development engagements.  Willy earned his MBA, with high distinction Baker Scholar, at Harvard University and his bachelor’s degree, with honors and high distinction, at Stanford University.
