Jordan Brand and Levi’s Unveil New Colorways for Air Jordan 3
Nike’s and Levi’s’ new collection explores the intersection of craftsmanship and sport culture through a full range of footwear and apparel that combine basketball legacy and streetwear influence.
At the center of the collection is the Jordan Brand x Levi’s Air Jordan 3, reimagined through four unique colorways that celebrate distinct communities and moments — complete with classic Jumpman and Levi’s branding, including the Levi’s Red Tab at the heel. The details:
- The Rigid colorway features premium indigo denim panels complemented by a black-on-black elephant print, the iconic pattern that helped define the Air Jordan 3 legacy.
- The Black colorway offers a sophisticated approach with pebbled black leather, black denim panels and a first-of-its-kind embroidered black denim heel piece with Nike Air branding.
- The Year of the Horse colorway — launching exclusively for Lunar New Year in China, Japan and Korea — pays homage to the upcoming lunar calendar with unbleached rigid ecru denim, premium pony hair panels, a jacquard heel tab and red “Year of the Horse” chain stitch embroidery.
- The LA Exclusive colorway, available during NBA All-Star Weekend, takes a refined approach with pebbled leather, strategic blue denim accents and red “City of Angels” chain stitch embroidery.
The exclusive footwear expressions are joined by a fresh apparel collection that fuses athletic codes with denim heritage across nine statement styles and everyday essentials. The specifics:
- The Jordan Brand x Levi’s Pinnacle Varsity Jacket serves as the maximalist centerpiece of the apparel collection, featuring a Melton wool body; leather sleeves; quilted satin lining; and vintage-inspired graphics from both brands’ archives, including a patch depicting a cowboy riding a bull, nodding to Michael Jordan’s legacy in Chicago.
- The Type III Trucker reimagines a denim icon in black washed denim with aged tint, a boxy cropped fit and an oversized Wings logo on the back yoke.
- A football jersey brings cropped, boxy energy in shiny polyester with contrasting matte and gloss red panels, as well as a co-branded jock tag.
- An overshirt jacket features 12-ounce rinsed indigo denim and signature Levi’s pigskin and golden wheat detailing.
- A fleece zip hoodie delivers heavyweight comfort with vintage black wash, a two-way zipper and co-branded artwork.
- A T-shirt reimagines the iconic Levi’s 1990s “Button Your Fly” graphic, first brought to life through an influential Spike Lee campaign that helped cement the slogan as a cultural touchstone.
Completing the collection are a black baggy jean that builds on the Levi’s 578 block with an extended inseam, amplifying the stack when worn with the Air Jordan 3; a baggy short that offer a generous fit with deep pleats in 12-ounce rinsed indigo denim; and a denim cap featuring Air Jordan embroidery, a Red Tab at the brim, antique brass Nike Air hardware and a brown leather cinch.
“Jordan Brand and Levi’s are more than just icons in fashion and sport — they are cultural leaders who have continually set the standard for creativity and self-expression,” says Nico Fearn, Jordan Brand GM of Energy. “As two of the most globally recognized American heritage brands, our history together speaks to the power of authentic partnership and innovation. From our beginnings, both brands have obsessed creating quality products that stand up to the demands of the daily hustle. Together, this partnership honors our shared legacy while turning the page, inviting new generations to redefine what it means to be original, what it means to be great.”
The collection comes to life through a campaign, styled by Cam Hicks, that features legendary filmmaker Spike Lee; artist Rio Amor; skater Josh Velez; and bucket drummer Jay Wright, whose father, Larry Wright, featured in the original Levi’s “Button Your Fly” ad.
“Reimagining the Air Jordan 3, one of the most iconic silhouettes in sneaker history, through a Levi’s lens allowed us to create something that celebrates both brands’ deep connection to so many subcultures,” says Leo Gamboa, VP, Collaborations, Levi’s. “From the denim construction to the varsity jacket that nods to MJ’s Bulls legacy, every piece in this collection represents the shared greatness that’s woven into both Levi’s and Jordan — greatness that’s been embraced for generations.”
