LIMA Canada Launches with Successful First Event

Canada Launch

LIMA Canada launched on May 3 with a sell-out inaugural event at the Westin Prince Hotel in Toronto. Licensing executives and industry leaders gathered from across Canada to network with their colleagues and learn about topics of interest relevant to Canadian companies.

Andrew Menceles, Director of LIMA Canada, kicked off the event with the introduction of the LIMA Canada Board of Advisors, made up of an impressive list of licensing executives. The event featured a keynote address by Pete Noonan, Managing Director, Licensing of Disney Canada, who spoke about the Canadian licensing landscape from the perspective of a major licensor.  In addition Martin Brochstein, SVP Industry Relations & Information of LIMA, lead a panel discussion of Canadian licensing leaders on the challenges facing the licensing business and the changing landscape of the Canadian retail sector.

LIMA President Charles Riotto spoke to attendees about the importance of connecting Canadian licensing professionals in the world’s fifth largest trademark licensing market, and establishing valuable educational and networking opportunities. The Advisory Committee also discussed the possibility of establishing an education course at a leading Canadian university.

Future plans for LIMA Canada include educational and networking events, as well as Canadian-led webinars. If there are particular topics you are interested in learning more about, please contact the LIMA Canada office with your suggestions.
