LMCA Creates Licensing Relationship for Opening of Forbes Newsstands in Airports

Atlanta-based Paradies, consistently recognized and awarded “Best Airport Retailer” by Airport Revenue News (ARN), has signed an exclusive license agreement to operate the first-ever Forbes newsstands in airports in North America. The first of four stores is now open at Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport’s (DTW) McNamara Terminal. Additional stores in Washington Reagan (DCA) and Washington Dulles (IAD) are slated to open in April 2014.
“For years, Forbes has enjoyed a strong connection with travelers thanks to the widespread availability of the magazine, and we’re excited to team up with leading airport concessionaire Paradies to further reach our customer base,” said Nina LaFrance, SVP, Consumer Marketing & Business Development at Forbes Media. “Today, travelers are looking for news and information that will improve their overall trip experience, and the most trusted brands stand out. The Forbes Travel Stores will provide a convenient, one-stop-shop offering magazines, books, food and personal products, plus Forbes news on-the-go via interactive touch-screen computers and videos.”
The news and technology-focused shopping stores will provide a unique and engaging experience for travelers seeking the latest news in business, investing, technology, entrepreneurship, leadership, philanthropy, and affluent lifestyles. In-store televisions will air programs from the Forbes video network. Interactive technology stations will allow customers the ability to peruse Forbes.com for breaking stories and market updates, and interactive promotions throughout the year will highlight the most anticipated Forbes magazine issues, such as the World’s Billionaires, Forbes 400, Investment Guides, Celebrity 100, and Best Colleges.
“Given the high volume of international and domestic travelers that our first four target airports attract, we felt Forbes would be a win-win for them and their passenger base,” said Gregg Paradies, president and CEO of Paradies. “We look forward to uniting the Forbes mission to deliver information on the people, ideas and technologies changing the world with Paradies’ long-standing mission to deliver first-class service that exceeds the expectations of the airports and travelers we serve.”
Each Forbes newsstand will offer an extensive selection of local, national and international newspapers, magazines and best-selling books, as well as a wide variety of traveler needs including electronics, health and beauty accessories, luggage, local and regional apparel, snacks and beverages, convenience items and more.
