MAISON de SABRÉ has partnered with The Pokémon Company on a limited-edition collection centred on Pikachu, marking the brand’s first collaboration with the entertainment franchise as it continues to scale its global luxury leather-goods business.

Launching worldwide on 26 February, 6PM ET, the collection applies MAISON de SABRÉ’s signature leather marquetry techniques to character design, blending heritage craftsmanship with modern savoir-faire and nostalgia.

At the heart of the collection sits the Pikachu Palais ($779 USD), a refined reworking of MAISON de SABRÉ’s best-selling flagship handbag. Crafted in supple pecan-brown calf leather and finished with contrast Pikachu-yellow stitching, each limited-edition Palais takes two days to assemble and features 44 precisely cut leather panels, layered by hand to bring the character to life.

Through a combination of inlay, overlay and high-pressure embossing, Pikachu is brought to life in a tactile, three-dimensional form. Pecan leather footprints wander across the silhouette, leading from a leather Pokéball motif at the gusset, while lightning-bolt zipper pullers nod to the character’s electric energy.

“Pokémon has always existed at the intersection of childhood and adulthood,” said Omar Sabré, co-founder and creative director of MAISON de SABRÉ. “Each collaboration we undertake is a quiet nod to nostalgia – to the parts of us that never really grew up.

With this collection, we wanted to celebrate that sense of play, but present it in the most refined, considered way possible. We’ve elevated Pikachu into something personal, enduring and sophisticated enough to be carried every day.

The collection also includes SABRÉMOJI™ charms ($89 USD) in three Pikachu expressions alongside a leather Pokéball charm, as well as a range of limited-edition bifold and trifold wallets and a coin purse ($149 – $189 USD), all developed using the same marquetry processes.

“Pokémon is one of the most recognisable franchises in the world, so the challenge was restraint, Sabré added. “Our aim was to introduce a level of sophistication that hasn’t been explored before – applying incredibly precise savoir-faire and elevated craftsmanship to one of the world’s most loved characters. It was about raising the bar and approaching Pikachu with the same rigor we apply to our core collections.

The collaboration arrives at a time when Pokémon continues to extend its influence across fashion and lifestyle categories, supported by a global business that generated more than US$12 billion in revenue in 2024 and has surpassed US$100 billion in total retail sales.

For MAISON de SABRÉ, the release builds on a broader strategy centred on limited-edition drops and nostalgia, categories that have delivered strong engagement for the brand in recent years.

“This collaboration reflects where our customer is today, ” said Zane Sabré, co-founder of MAISON de SABRÉ. “They’re highly engaged, culturally fluent and looking for products that sit at the intersection of design, function and storytelling.

From a business perspective, the release aligns with our broader growth strategy – creating products that travel well across markets while remaining disciplined in how we produce and release them. Pokémon brings global recognition, but the execution still had to earn its place in our assortment.

The company has evolved from colourful phone cases into a full luxury leather-goods offering, working with gold-rated European leathers and producing tightly controlled, collectible releases spanning handbags, small leather goods, charms and luggage.

The MAISON de SABRÉ x Pokémon collection will be available online via MAISON de SABRÉ, Bloomingdale’s, Nordstrom, Farfetch, FWRD, Saks Fifth Avenue and Revolve from 26 February, 6PM ET.
