Maya the Bee Flies Into the UK and Lands on Tiny Pop
Studio 100, the leading global family entertainment company, continues to delight young viewers and their families worldwide and today announces that Maya the Bee, the popular CGI animation series, will launch on Tiny Pop in the UK on 6th January 2014 at 8.15am. Maya the Bee will air every day in two primetime slots, 8.15am and 6pm where it will be part of the popular Cuddle Time block. Tiny Pop has acquired all 78×12’ episodes of the CGI series.
The classic Maya the Bee TV series launched in 1975, based on the first Maya book written by Waldemar Bonsels ‘Maya and her adventures’. The loveable character has been popular all over the world and loved by TV audiences (children aged 4-6 and parents) for the past 35 years. Maya the Bee in CGI is now broadcast in 157 territories worldwide, with its international presence continuing to grow. The brand success is evident, with over 300 licensees worldwide covering all major categories and 1,300 products developed in 2012.
Maya is a little bee like no other. Thirsty for adventure, she leaves the hive to live in the meadow, free like a…bee! The world is just too big and too fascinating to remain confined to the restricted life of the hive. The series is packed with adventure and fun and is set to be a hit with UK fans!
Tiny Pop is a fast-growing children’s TV channel that has reached 2.5 million viewers since January 2013. In the last 6 months (June to Nov 2013) Tiny Pop achieved a 6.4% share of the kids market in its target demographic of kids 4 to 6 in DSAT Homes. This is the fifth highest amongst the 18 kids channels in DSAT Homes – higher than Nick Jr 2, Nicktoons, Cartoon Network and Disney Channel. Tiny Pop will launch the first 19 episodes of Maya the Bee from January 2014.
Hans Bourlon, Founder and CEO of Studio 100, comments: “We’re thrilled to be working with Tiny Pop and delighted to be launching Maya the Bee in the UK. Maya is a truly loved popular character worldwide and we’re hoping UK viewers grow to share the same passion for this endearing and stunning TV series.”
