Launch planned on Nickelodeon channel for Fall 2024

Mondo TV Group and Toon2Tango signed a deal with Paramount Global Italia, which acquired pay TV rights in Italy for Monster Loving Maniacs. The animated series if produced by JA Film, in co-production with Mondo TV, Belvision and Ginger Pictures.

Paramount Global Italia will broadcast the show on its leading kids’ channel Nickelodeon, available through Sky, in Italy later this year, with the option to extend to leading kids Free-to-air channel Super!.

The acquisition by Paramount Global Italia is a further proof of the universal appeal of the show, says Luana Perrero, Mondo TV Head of Global Content Sales, who explains: “Monster Loving Maniacs is an exciting and funny show that resonates with its target audience, has lots of monsters and touches on relatable themes, like family, relationships, and coping with our fears with a highly original – and extraordinarily funny – story about monster-obsessed kids: parents of children 6-10yo know what obsessed with monsters mean! The show has already found big audiences internationally, and many more partners are to be announced soon.”

Now available in over 150 countries, the show, commissioned by leading broadcasters SUPER RTL of Germany and DR of Denmark, is a ratings success internationally: on CBBC in the UK it has ranked consistently among CBBC’s top shows; on Ceska Televize in the Czech Republic, RTL Klub in Hungary, Noga in Israel, MBC3 in MENA, True Visions in Thailand, and Canela Kids in Spanish-speaking US and Latin America.

In the recent months the show has been acquired by several broadcasters serving key European territories, with premieres planned for Halloween  / Fall 2024: these include France’s premium French pay TV broadcaster CANAL+, Belgium VRT’s Ketnet, Hungary RTL Klub, Latvia TV3, Northern Spain’s Basque Country EITB.

International broadcasters have been attracted not just by the original themes and the show’s appeal to kids and family alike, but also by its focus on values like inclusion, open-mindedness and tolerance – and, of course, the humour arising from the generational clash at the core of the show.

Monster Loving Maniacs (52 x 11 2D full HD) is aimed at children 6-10 year-olds: they are invited to join Edith, Ernest and Bo, three siblings who are being trained as monster hunters by their tough old grandfather. These kids are massive horror fans who love dangerous paranormal creatures, which doesn’t quite match their grandfather’s old-school ideas. So, as soon as grandpa takes one of his many naps, they look for a way to save the monsters rather than hunt them.
