Nike Named MLB Uniform Supplier; Fanatics To Manufacture and Distribute for Retail

NikeMLBNike will become Major League Baseball’s (MLB) uniform supplier starting with 2020 season, bringing its iconic swoosh onto the field under terms of a 10-year-deal. At the same time, Fanatics will make and distribute all Nike-branded MLB apparel to be sold at retail.

MLB had originally done a similar deal with Under Armour, but the latter backed out amid financial trouble and a change in marketing direction; Fanatics was slated to play a similar role in the MLB-Under Armour agreement.

The new pact ends the Majestic brand’s run with MLB, which started with batting practice jerseys in 1982 and was extended to include uniforms in 2005. Fanatics, which purchased Majestic in 2017, will manufacture and distribute licensed versions of the Nike uniforms and training wear online and to retail stores.
