How did you get into licensing (or how did licensing find YOU)
I had always worked on iconic brands, but as a product developer or licensee. I was working at Hasbro on the brand marketing team for the Star Wars master toy line when I was recruited to join the Lucasfilm licensing team.

What’s your biggest personal and professional accomplishment?
Biggest professional accomplishment: Part of inaugural team that designed/developed the original Build Your Own Lightsaber experience for the Disney Theme Parks.

Biggest personal accomplishment: Raising 2 children to be good humans and helping them meld their fandom with their careers.

What keeps you up at night? What’s your biggest challenge nowadays? Or what is licensing’s biggest challenge now?
If we’re asking a personal question about what keeps us up at night…. The safety of my children keeps me up at night, especially my son.

Licensing’s biggest challenge: To not lose momentum on diversity issues as the world moves on to other news, to actually implement the plans that have been discussed.

In your opinion, what is the top skill that every licensing executive should have in order to succeed?
Imagination! In order to evaluate the potential behind deals or product types, a licensing executive should be able to imagine the possibilities and then build the strategic vision for the program.

How do you want to change the licensing industry?
I would like to help create a pipeline of talent that is diverse not only in race or religion, but also of thought, breaking old molds and old ideas.

What truly excites you professionally?
When fans appreciate the work that I’ve done on a project and actually tell me about what they love about it when they don’t know who I am. It’s a great feeling!
