How did you get into licensing (or how did licensing find YOU)?
I started my career in the media and music industry where I took charge of the licensing in and licensing out activities on various projects and properties. Working in the leading TV group M6, I moved into the entertainment brand sector and pure licensing activity.

What’s your biggest personal and professional accomplishment?
After having developed activities for various entertainment groups, I decided to go ahead and set up my own marketing and licensing consultancy company 10 years ago. It was a very important change in my life, especially as I had decided to specialise in public brands ! In 2011, it was a gamble and today it represents a reality for many institutions that decide to launch brand and licensing programs.

What are the most significant trends or changes that you’ve seen in the business in recent years?
The main change is the democratization of brand licensing and brand collaborations:  any brand feels eligible today to explore the world of licensing because it represents a stable model and a lever for development. If entertainment licensing remains the king, there are different types of brands capable of seducing manufacturers and distributors at their level.

And the trend that will be reinforced in the years to come is the changing expectations of consumers who are looking for “true brands” that will demonstrate their commitment to a better cause or world.

What keeps you up at night? OR What’s your biggest challenge these days?
My constant creativity and curiosity make me think about partnership ideas for the brands I represent!

What is the best piece of advice you ever received? OR What is your favorite quote?
Always seek to transform a difficulty into an advantage.

What is your favorite licensing deal of all time? (doesn’t have to be one that was signed by you)
The next deal I will sign! The best is yet to come, that’s what drives me to always do better.

Otherwise, I am quite sensitive to what the Smiley licence has been able to develop over time. It’s a real success story for me and I like to see how it is maintained and reinvented regularly.

The last licensed product I bought was…
A decorative object that I made under license for the City of Lyon, because I always buy the products I develop (an old habit)!
