People Profile: Ivonne Feliciano, Director of Business Development and Marketing at Beanstalk
The global licensing community is powered by an incredible group of professionals whose diverse backgrounds and creative energy drive innovation and excellence. Each week we’re profiling one of these professionals in this ongoing series.
How did you get into licensing, or how did licensing find YOU?
I got sucked into licensing by a friend and colleague at Disney Publishing Worldwide. I learned the tricks of the trade from the Mouse himself!
What’s a “typical” day in your current position?
There is no “typical” day for me as I work on not only business development in North America and LATAM as well as marketing globally, but I also oversee our clients’ business in Colombia, Central America, and the Caribbean.
What keeps you up at night? What’s your biggest challenge these days?
The biggest challenge is reconciling management practices across generations, as well as the transition into a new working style and environment.
In your opinion, what is the top skill every licensing executive should have in order to succeed?
It’s crucial to have a positive, problem-solving approach. Licensing starts with a brilliant idea, a collaboration, a new product, or a new experience, and then it’s about figuring out how to make it happen. Brilliant ideas can come from anywhere, but it takes skill to make them come to life.
What is the best piece of advice you ever received? Or what is your favorite quote?
“Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left behind by those who hustle.” — A Lincoln?
What is your favorite licensing deal of all time? (It doesn’t have to be one that was signed by you.)
EVERYTHING that Oreo does! I love Oreo as a brand and as a cookie, and the Oreo team is constantly surprising and delighting consumers.
The last licensed product I bought was…
The Cheesecake Factory brown bread rolls by Bimbo from Publix.
