Sesame Workshop Appoints Myung Kang-Huneke As Chief of Staff

(New York, NY) Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization behind Sesame Street, has promoted Myung Kang-Huneke to Chief of Staff.  In this capacity, Kang-Huneke will join Sesame Workshop’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Gary E. Knell, and Chief Operating Officer, H. Melvin Ming, in the Office of the President. In addition to overseeing legal and business affairs and public policy, Kang-Huneke will now supervise Sesame Workshop’s Corporate Partnerships and Development groups as well as drive horizontal decision making on pivotal projects and improve the achievement of organization-wide priorities. Kang-Huneke will continue to serve as General Counsel and Secretary to Sesame Workshop’s Board of Trustees.
Kang-Huneke joined Sesame Workshop’s legal department twelve years ago, providing legal services for its new media and publishing projects and its corporate sponsorship team.  Most recently, she served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel, where she developed Sesame Workshop’s Product Safety Assurance Program.  Additionally, Kang-Huneke was responsible for supporting the expansion of Sesame Workshop brands through product licensing as well as promotional, retail and representation agreements both domestically and internationally.

Knell. “Myung’s sound judgment and ability to create strategic alliances, both internally and externally, make her a welcomed addition to the Office of the President.”
Prior to joining the Workshop, Kang-Huneke was an attorney for the New Media and Cable Group at ABC, Inc. (The Walt Disney Company) where she handled legal and business affairs for ABC’s new media ventures.  Previously, she was a litigation attorney for ABC and represented the network and its stations in employment, first amendment and commercial litigation matters.  Kang-Huneke also was a litigator for the New York City Housing Authority.  She began her legal career as an associate for the law firm Proskauer Rose in New York City.
Kang-Huneke graduated as a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar from the Columbia University School of Law in 1989.  She also holds a liberal arts degree from the Eugene Lang College of the New School. Kang-Huneke came to the United States at the age of six, and is proud to have learned to speak English by watching Sesame Street. She currently resides in Summit, New Jersey with her husband, 13 year old son and 10 year old daughter.
