The British Museum Launches New Homewares Collection With Deus Ex Gardenia

LONDON: The British Museum is proud to announce its new home collaboration with British design house Deus Ex Gardenia.
Widely regarded in the world of interiors for its richly layered wallpapers and textiles inspired by art and nature, Deus Ex Gardenia’s new licensing partnership draws upon some masterpieces from the Museum’s collection. The capsule collection features twelve designs that reinterpret stunning details from historic works of art from India into contemporary interiors, each exploring the natural world through a different lens.
This collaboration builds on the Museum’s growing portfolio in the home category, reflecting a long-term strategy to bring art and history from the Museum’s vast collection into the home through design-led partnerships.
As part of this focus, the Museum’s licensing team have recently launched Colour Stories, a curated colour system for licensees. Developed from the Museum’s collections and architectural spaces, the tool provides a clear visual framework to guide the development of licensed products that reflect its character, heritage and values.
Craig Bendle, Manager, Product Licensing at the British Museum said, “We’re delighted to be working with Deus Ex Gardenia on this beautiful new collection, which captures the spirit of our collections in such a contemporary yet timeless way. Our new Colour Stories tool has been key in shaping how we approach collaborations like this, giving our partners a creative framework that stays true to the Museum’s identity, while allowing them the freedom to design products that feel fresh, relevant and inspiring. We’re excited to see what else it can inspire!”
About the British Museum
Founded in 1753, the British Museum was the first national public museum in the world. From the outset, it was a museum of the world, for the world – an ethos that remains at the heart of its mission today. Its collections tell the stories of cultures from across the globe, spanning more than two million years of human history. From the earliest tools made by humans to treasures of the ancient world and contemporary objects from Africa, Oceania and the Americas, the Middle East, Asia and Europe – the Museum also holds the national collections of prints and drawings, and of coins and medals.
About Deus ex Gardenia
Deus ex Gardenia is a London wallcoverings studio founded in 2022 by designer Katya Nappolini and her husband Marco. Katya studied at Central Saint Martins and spent a decade designing textiles for Etro, Liberty of London, Ralph Lauren and Anthropologie before launching the brand. The name which means “God from the garden” reflects a focus on nature translated for contemporary interiors.
They design collections that pair archival references and couture-level botanical drawing with lime-washed, sun-softened palettes. The range is built around four principles: Soulful Heritage, Effortless Layering, Lived-In Luxury, and a Nature-First Palette. Produced in England on sustainable materials, their wallpapers are specified by designers, homeowners and boutique hotels in the UK, Europe and the US.
