The PGA of America and Turner’s Cartoon Network Enterprises Debut All-New PGA Authentic Jr. Product Line

Youth Apparel Line from Garb Unveiled at the 59th PGA Merchandise Show; Product Debuts in Spring 2012
The PGA of America and Turner Broadcasting’s Cartoon Network Enterprises (CNE), the licensing and merchandising arm for the children’s television network, have announced the launch of the PGA Authentic Jr. line of licensed products, which will debut at green-grass retailers throughout the nation in May 2012.
The first products from the line will include youth apparel consisting of shirts, outerwear, shorts, skorts and hats for boys and girls. This line was created and distributed by Garb, a leading manufacturer of children’s golf apparel. The products, which will retail for the suggested retail price range of $13-$55, were officially unveiled to the golf industry today at the 59th PGA Merchandise Show, at the Orange County Convention Center, in Orlando.
“The PGA of America is thrilled to partner with Cartoon Network Enterprises to bring children nationwide some of the most dynamic new fashions in golf from Garb via the PGA Authentic Jr. line,” said PGA President Allen Wronowski. “By exploring new licensing and merchandising partnerships, we are able to deliver the sense of fun, enjoyment and excitement that the game of golf represents to kids everywhere through clothing that is young, vibrant and new.”
In 2009, Turner’s CNE was named the exclusive youth licensing agent for The PGA and charged with creating a line of consumer products that appeal to the sport’s youngest fans and also creates a broader and more accessible entry point to the sport.
“The PGA of America is the marquee name in the game of golf, and we have an exciting opportunity to build a fun and engaging consumer products program for the youth market that embodies the core attributes of the Association,” said Pete Yoder, vice president of consumer products, CNE. “With a great partner in Garb, and strong creative execution of the apparel line, the debut of PGA Authentic Jr. is off to a fantastic start, and we look forward to building and expanding the line in the coming years.”
The licensing deal is one part of a larger, long-standing relationship that exists between Turner Sports and The PGA and will continue through 2019, as the two companies previously extended their broadcasting and interactive media agreements, covering the PGA Championship, PGA Grand Slam of Golf and PGA.com.
