Frank Lloyd Wright x New Balance x Kith (Jewel Branding & Licensing)
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation and Kith collaborated on a limited-edition partnership, promoting the Foundation’s mission to inspire an intentional approach to better living through connections to art, nature, and community. Kith launched the Ronnie Fieg & Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation for New Balance Made in USA 998 – Broadacre City shoe, celebrating Wright’s architectural sketches and models of his futuristic concept, Broadacre City. The shoe was offered in two colorways—creamy white alongside earthy red, apricot, and olive green—all pulled from Broadacre City. The model released exclusively in-app and in-store at Kith Tokyo, where Kith founder Ronnie Fieg signed pairs for the first 25 customers. The second release followed the next day at a pop-up in Taliesin West, the Foundation’s Arizona headquarters. The collection, which sold out immediately, was featured in Fast Company and Architectural Digest.
Kenneth Cole x Sesame Street
Kenneth Cole closed out its 40th year with a Sesame Street capsule voicing care for mental well-being. Hoodies and t-shirts for the whole family featured playful character graphics with supportive phrases, such as “It’s OK to be Grouchy” and “Elmo Has Sad Days Too.” Acclaimed footwear designer Alexander John designed exclusive sneakers in four colorways to round out the collection. Kenneth Cole generously donated to Sesame Workshop in support of its Emotional Well-being initiative and to additional causes that help destigmatize mental health. Key press included appearances on Good Day New York, Tamron Hall, Fox 5 NY, features in InTouch Weekly and Women’s Wear Daily, plus a social media campaign with custom content, all garnering over 171 million impressions.
Marvel x Christian Louboutin
In celebration of Disney’s 100th anniversary, Marvel and Christian Louboutin released a limited capsule collection of footwear and accessories for women, men, and kids that merged the legacy of Christian Louboutin’s savoir-faire and Marvel’s epic storytelling. Louboutin’s designs incorporated the fashion house’s aesthetic flare with tributes to key pieces of Marvel iconography, including the Infinity Stones, Marvel Comic character Namor, and Moon Knight’s mysterious black and silver suit. The pieces featured dramatic silhouettes, vibrant jewel-encrusted accents, vinyl leathers, striking metallics, and a scarlet-red sole to complete each shoe. Originating from Louboutin’s lifelong admiration for Marvel and powerful storytelling, an exclusive comic book was also launched. The storyline followed the quest of an Egyptian archaeologist superhero, based on Louboutin himself, and featured the collection and numerous Marvel characters. Additionally, consumers who purchased items from the collection unlocked an immersive augmented reality experience through Loubiverse and a Marvel digital collectible.
Squishmallows x H&M
Bringing a bright and squishy twist to fashion, #1 plush brand Squishmallows collaborated with H&M unveiling a vibrant apparel and accessories collection available worldwide in 2023. The Squishmallows character-inspired capsule featured on-trend fashions spanning a 42-piece collection for kids and tweens including slippers, pajamas, t-shirts, dresses, ear muffs, hoodies, and more. Each fashion-forward item incorporated the unique personalities of the lovable, huggable Squishmallows, making the collection as cuddle-craving as the toys themselves. Exclusive to the H&M collection was Rodry, a yellow bearded dragon Squishmallows plush sporting a cool new look. The highly sought-after collection hit shelves in time for the holiday season with sellouts at multiple H&M locations—the collection sold through 27% in the first week versus a planned 15%. Social media posts saw a combined 45 million reach, H&M’s top-performing collaboration post to date.
Swatch x Jean-Michel Basquiat (Artestar)
This year, Swatch brought Jean-Michel Basquiat’s masterpieces to their iconic Swatch Art Journey. The release embodies Swatch’s love for trailblazing artists. The Swatch x Basquiat Collection is a vibrant tribute to the iconic New York artist who dared to break the boundaries of conventional art and help make street art subculture a critically embraced art form. Basquiat was the only artist that had three watches and a Special Set dedicated to him in 2023. The feedback in the market was highly positive, garnering spectacular sales throughout the term of the collaboration.
The Met x Todd Snyder (Beanstalk)
The Met is one of the most important cultural institutions in the world, representing 5,000 years of art from around the world. As part of its mission to collect, study, conserve, and present significant works of art across time and cultures to connect all people to creativity, knowledge, ideas, and one another, The Metropolitan Museum of Art collaborated with Todd Synder to design a wearable, art-inspired menswear collection. “The colors and brushstrokes of Van Gogh, Degas, and Manet feel incredibly modern, incredibly relevant,” says Snyder of the pieces he chose to adapt for this unique project. The menswear collection, featured in Esquire and GQ, among other fashion publications, was also featured on a multi-tiered jumbotron in Times Square.
Tommy Jeans x Keith Haring (Artestar)
Tommy Hilfiger was excited to announce the launch of a TOMMY JEANS and Keith Haring collaboration. They both share a passion for democratizing art and fashion in 1980s New York. Haring’s message, “Art Is For Everybody”, describes the spirit of the legendary artist. The 30-piece Tommy x Keith Haring collection features menswear, womenswear, and novelties covered in Haring’s unmistakable graphics. Relaxed prep silhouettes become a canvas for Haring’s artwork, illustrated with icons in garment-dyed, sun-bleached and washed-up treatments. This collection sold incredibly well in retail stores and online. The earned media and reception was a major success particularly with Gen Z, garnering immense sell through and social media attention.
