Since January 2024, the FFHandball (Handball French Federation) has relaunched its merchandising through three major lines (Official, Fan & Supporters, Lifestyle). The federation aims to capitalize on the great achievements of the French teams by creating a collection titled “Iconic Gestures” of French handball. The first of its kind: the penalty throw by Elohim Prandi, immortalized by the artist Marion Ben-Lisa, is now available on a collector’s t-shirt.

Elohim Prandi: “It’s rewarding”

Through this collection, the Federation wants to celebrate and pay tribute to the gestures that have marked French handball—gestures that are part of the DNA of this sport and the French teams, from the most well-known to the most mythical (more to come). “It’s rewarding to have a t-shirt featuring an iconic gesture of handball. The graphics and embroidery are well done,” appreciates Elohim Prandi, who will return to Sweden this Wednesday in Orléans, 10 months after his resounding achievement. “I hope there are young handball players or young athletes who will see themselves in this t-shirt. That would be a great satisfaction for me.”

An online shop that keeps growing

“With this very first collaboration with Maison Transversale, we aimed to reach handball lovers with a new product that pays homage to this gesture that made an impression last January,” explains Léa Dolzani, merchandising project manager. With this first textile, FFHandball is reaching out to handball enthusiasts for whom these gestures hold an important place in their hearts and generate memories and emotions, but not only that. “Collaborating with the Maison Transversale agency is a way to open ourselves up to a new, more lifestyle-oriented audience, with a more stylized treatment in both colors and embroidery,” emphasizes Léa Dolzani. “We want our brand to transcend the halls and courts of handball while remaining authentic and rooted in the DNA of this sport.”

Marion Ben-Lisa: “Celebrating this iconic gesture”

“The first gesture chosen to fuel this collection: the successful penalty throw by Elohim Prandi during France – Sweden, semi-final of the EHF EURO 2024, which went around the world and represents the essence of what we want to achieve with this collection,” continues Léa Dolzani. “Together, we wanted to celebrate this iconic gesture and capture all the energy and tension of that moment,” highlights Marion Ben-Lisa, artist at Maison Transversale. “I really enjoyed illustrating this spectacular gesture on a t-shirt using only three colors for impact and the complementarity of the screen printing.”
